 note = {In 1976, Takatsuki et al. first demonstrated adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) which is a unique leukemia characterized by a bizarre lobulated nucleus (116). In 1980, Gallo et al. isolated for the first time a human retrovirus from a patient with mycosis fungoides. The retrovirus, named as human T-cell leukemia virus (86), is now classified as human T-cell leukemia virus type-1 (HTLV-1).
