Surface waves are observed on the liquid curtain, which are generated due to a large pressure difference between the inner and outer region of the meniscus on the substrate, and propagate upstream. They are categorized as varicose waves that propagate upstream on the curtain and become stationary because of the downstream flow. The Kistler's equation, which governs the flow in thin liquid curtains, is solved under the downstream boundary conditions, and the numerical solutions are studied carefully. The solutions are categorized into three cases depending on the boundary conditions. The stability of the varicose waves is also discussed as wavelets were observed on these waves. The two types of modes staggered and peak-valley patterns are considered in the present study, and they depend on the Reynolds number, the Weber number, and the amplitude of the surface waves. The former is observed in our experiment, while the latter is predicted by our calculation. Both the types of modes can be derived using the equations with periodic coefficients that originated from the periodic base flow due to the varicose waves. The stability analysis of the waves shows that the appearance of the peak-valley pattern requires a significantly greater amplitude of the waves, and a significantly higher Weber number and Reynolds number compared to the condition in which the staggered pattern is observed.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_5_publisher_27":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"IOP Publishing on behalf of the Japan Society of Fluid Mechanics"}]},"item_5_relation_11":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1088/1873-7005/aa7ee8","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_5_rights_12":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"© 2017 The Japan Society of Fluid Mechanics and IOP Publishing Ltd"}]},"item_5_select_15":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"author"}]},"item_5_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0169-5983","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_5_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA12466655","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Liu, Yekun"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Itoh, Masahiro"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kyotoh, Harumichi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2018-08-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"FDR_49-5-1.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.9 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"FDR_49-5","url":"https://tsukuba.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/43389/files/FDR_49-5-1.pdf"},"version_id":"4f6542d3-ac2a-4776-8307-99393455f16c"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Flow of a falling liquid curtain onto a moving substrate","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Flow of a falling liquid curtain onto a moving substrate"}]},"item_type_id":"5","owner":"1","path":["158","1832"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2017-09-19"},"publish_date":"2017-09-19","publish_status":"0","recid":"43389","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Flow of a falling liquid curtain onto a moving substrate"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":5},"updated":"2022-04-27T09:14:28.766296+00:00"}
