However, it is often difficult to distinguish between differential parental investment and compensation for a decrease in parental investment by an attractive mate. Using Barn Swallows Hirundo rustica gutturalis, in which males rarely participate in incubation, we investigated differential incubation investment of females. We made the following four observations: (1) Females participate in 94% of total nest attentiveness (time that eggs were incubated). (2) Female nest attentiveness was positively correlated with the ornamentation of their mates, the size of white spots in the tail, which is a measure of male attractiveness in this population. (3) Male nest attentiveness was not related to male ornaments. (4) Total nest attentiveness was positively correlated with the size of white spots in the tail. These results are consistent with differential parental investment, but not with compensation for a decrease in parental investment by a mate. Therefore, we conclude that female Barn Swallows that have acquired an attractive male invest differentially in incubation.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_5_publisher_27":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"日本鳥学会"}]},"item_5_publisher_28":{"attribute_name":"出版者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"the Ornithological Society of Japan"}]},"item_5_relation_11":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.2326/osj.11.1","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_5_rights_12":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"© The Ornithological Society of Japan 2012"}]},"item_5_select_15":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"publisher"}]},"item_5_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1347-0558","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_5_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA11616388","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hasegawa, Masaru"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Arai, Emi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Watanabe, Mamoru"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakamura, Masahiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-01-30"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"OS_11-1.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"776.5 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"OS_11-1","url":"https://tsukuba.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/32170/files/OS_11-1.pdf"},"version_id":"c1342450-e0dd-41b6-b077-19efe670afdc"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"High Incubation Investment of Females Paired to Attractive Males in Barn Swallows","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"High Incubation Investment of Females Paired to Attractive Males in Barn Swallows"}]},"item_type_id":"5","owner":"1","path":["869","1367"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2015-01-30"},"publish_date":"2015-01-30","publish_status":"0","recid":"32170","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["High Incubation Investment of Females Paired to Attractive Males in Barn Swallows"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":5},"updated":"2022-04-27T08:59:32.877050+00:00"}
